{"id":1610,"date":"2017-12-05T09:49:42","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T09:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scmgalaxy.com\/tutorials\/?p=1610"},"modified":"2025-02-01T22:39:38","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T22:39:38","slug":"perforce-user-deletion-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devopsschool.com\/blog\/perforce-user-deletion-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Perforce user deletion issues."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>rajeshkumar created the topic: perforce user deletion issues.<\/strong><br \/>\nToday i was trying to delete some perforce users and found some strange issues as below;<\/p>\n<p>Problem<br \/>\np4 user -d -f raj<br \/>\nUser rajhas file(s) open on 2 client(s) and can&#8217;t be deleted<\/p>\n<p>p4 -u raj-c <clientname> -H <hostname> opened<br \/>\nAccess for user &#8216;raj&#8217; has not been enabled by &#8216;p4 protect&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>p4 client -d -f raj_client<br \/>\nClient &#8216;raj_client7&#8217; has files shelved; use &#8216;shelve -df&#8217; to remove them, and then try again.<\/p>\n<p>p4 -u raj -c raj_client -H <hostname> revert -k \/\/&#8230;<br \/>\nAccess for user &#8216;raj&#8217; has not been enabled by &#8216;p4 protect&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Solution which I found out.<\/p>\n<p>The messages receiving show that access for the user &#8216;raj&#8217; has been disabled by removing all entries corresponding to this user from the Perforce Protections Table.<\/p>\n<p>You can check this by running:<br \/>\np4 protect -o | grep raj<\/p>\n<p>Note you must be a superuser to run this command.<\/p>\n<p>Granting the user &#8216;raj&#8217; access to the areas of the depot where they have files open or shelved will allow you to delete these workspaces and shelves.
