Our team has successfully applied the CALMS framework to enhance our DevOps practices, with each pillar playing a crucial role in our journey. The Culture pillar helped foster collaboration between development, operations, and security teams, breaking down silos and improving communication. Automation was a key focus, where we automated our CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitLab CI, significantly reducing manual errors and speeding up deployments. Applying Lean principles allowed us to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and focus on delivering value faster. Measurement has been integral, with key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics from tools like Prometheus and Grafana allowing us to monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement. However, Sharing has arguably had the biggest impact, as it encouraged knowledge transfer across teams and empowered individuals to contribute to solutions, leading to faster innovation and problem-solving. The emphasis on shared learning and collaboration helped create a culture of continuous improvement, which has been fundamental to our DevOps success.
