Performance is assessed based on the proximity of the region to our users or customers to minimize latency and improve response times. We also consider the specific Azure services available in each region, as not all services are offered in every region. For compliance, we select regions that meet our data residency and regulatory requirements, such as GDPR or industry-specific standards, to ensure we’re compliant with local laws. Cost is another important factor, as Azure pricing can vary between regions. We compare resource pricing, including compute, storage, and networking, across multiple regions to choose the most cost-effective option without compromising performance or compliance. Finally, for disaster recovery and high availability, we often opt for regions that provide the ability to replicate data and services across multiple Availability Zones within the same region. This helps ensure resilience while maintaining optimal service delivery.
