Our organization uses Azure Paired Regions to strengthen our disaster recovery (DR) and resilience strategies by ensuring that critical data and services are replicated and available across geographically close but independent regions. We leverage the paired regions to set up geo-redundant storage (GRS) and active-passive failover configurations for key applications, ensuring that if one region faces an outage, services can failover seamlessly to the paired region with minimal downtime. For database availability, we use Azure SQL Database's Geo-Replication feature to replicate data across paired regions, allowing us to quickly recover in case of a failure. Additionally, we align our update management processes with the sequential rollout strategy that Azure enforces across paired regions, ensuring that we can maintain uptime during scheduled maintenance without impacting the entire infrastructure. This setup enhances our business continuity and ensures we meet compliance requirements while improving the overall resilience of our services in the event of regional disruptions.
