In my opinion, the most important feature in a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is real-time production monitoring and visibility because it allows manufacturers to track production processes, machine performance, and workflow status as they happen. Having real-time insights helps teams quickly identify bottlenecks, reduce downtime, improve quality control, and make faster operational decisions. This visibility also supports better resource utilization and helps maintain consistent production performance. While features like scheduling, inventory integration, quality management, and reporting are also valuable, real-time monitoring has the biggest impact because it provides the immediate data needed to improve efficiency and optimize manufacturing operations.
