Organizations choosing a public health surveillance system should evaluate factors such as real-time monitoring, data integration from multiple sources, analytics and trend detection, scalability, interoperability with existing healthcare systems, reporting and visualization capabilities, and strong data security and privacy compliance. These features help ensure timely detection of disease outbreaks, accurate analysis, and effective decision-making in public health management. In my opinion, the most important factor is real-time monitoring with strong data integration, because the ability to continuously collect and combine data from hospitals, labs, and other sources enables faster detection of health risks and quicker response actions. While analytics and reporting are important, they are most effective only when supported by accurate, real-time, and well-integrated data.
