Organizations evaluating a Global Trade Management (GTM) system should look for capabilities such as trade compliance management, import/export documentation handling, tariff and duty calculation, logistics and shipment visibility, customs integration, risk management, workflow automation, and analytics for supply chain performance. These features help streamline international trade operations, reduce delays, and ensure adherence to global regulations. In my opinion, the most important factor is compliance tracking, because global trade is heavily regulated and even small mistakes can result in penalties, shipment delays, or legal complications. While logistics visibility and automation improve efficiency and transparency, compliance tracking is the core requirement that ensures all international trade activities remain accurate, legal, and risk-free.
