In my opinion, platforms like Trino (formerly PrestoSQL) and Denodo stand out for data federoatin because they balance strong performance with flexibility across distributed environments. Trino is especially useful for fast, large-scale querying across multiple data sources, making it a popular choice for modern cloud-native architectures, while Denodo offers powerful data virtualization features with strong enterprise-level governance and security. The most valuable features in a data federation platform are high query performance, easy integration with different data sources, real-time data access, and scalability across hybrid and multi-cloud systems. I also think good metadata management and security controls are essential to ensure data consistency and safe access across teams.
