How many types of SEO?

What is SEO?

Guys, first of all, I am going to explain to you about SEO. The full form of SEO is Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a process of getting traffic from organic search results on search engines. It is a method of strategies and techniques that we use to improve our website so that it performs well in search engine result pages. SEO is important because we can make our website get more users in a search engine, the higher the website rank in the search engine result page (SERP).

Below I am going to describe to you, how many types of SEO?

  1. Off-page SEO
  2. Technical SEO
  3. White Hat SEO
  4. Black hat SEO
  5. Grey Hat SEO
  6. Negative SEO

1. On-page SEO

On-page SEO is done to optimize individual web pages to get a higher rank and more appropriate traffic in search engines. On-page refers to both the content of a page and the HTML source code that you can customize, unlike off-page SEO which refers to links and other external signals.

Here are some examples of On-page SEO

  • Page Titles
  • Meta Descriptions
  • Meta Tags
  • URL Structure
  • Content Optimization
  • H1, H2, H3,… H6 Tags
  • Keyword Density
  • Image Optimization

2. Off-page SEO

Off-page SEO is called those techniques which focus on increasing the authority of your domain for which they depend on links from other websites. The biggest factor of off-page SEO is the number and quality of backlinks that point to your website.

Here are some examples of Off-page SEO

  • Social Networking Sites
  • Guest Blogging
  • Blog Submission
  • Article Submission
  • PPT Submission
  • Forum Marketing
  • Directory Submission
  • Social Bookmarking
  • Link Building
  • Image and Video Submission
  • Press Release
  • Business Listings

3. Technical SEO

SEO largely helps Google bots in terms of technology to successfully crawl, interpret, and index all pages of your site for future use. Creating a fully XML sitemap, making your site mobile-friendly, adding structured data to help web crawlers sort and categorize their pages based on the content you type, just using some techniques is done.

Here are some examples of Technical SEO

  • Specify a Preferred Domain
  • Optimize Robots.txt
  • Optimize Your URL Structure
  • Navigation and Site Structure
  • Breadcrumb Menus
  • Implement Structured Data Markup
  • Canonical URL

4. White Hat SEO

White-hat SEO refers to all optimization techniques that follow Google’s search engine guidelines. Although one needs to be patient to see results, they are sustainable and create genuine goodwill around your brand. Furthermore, if there is a new algorithmic change, there is no risk of your site getting blocked or down in search results. If you do it correctly, white-hat SEO is low risk and high rewards.

These techniques include:

  • Creating high-quality content
  • Optimizing HTML
  • Sharing on social media:
  • Making your site user-friendly

5. Black hat SEO

Black Hat SEO will get you to where you want to go faster. This usually costs less because you are taking shortcuts as opposed to Google guidelines. In fact, many Black Hat SEO tactics are specifically called out in the guidelines because things you shouldn’t do. As such, they risk that your website and content will rank low, search results will be banned, or demoted the next time Google updates their ranking algorithm.

There are numerous tactics that fall under black hat:

  • Link spamming
  • Keyword stuffing
  • Cloaking
  • Hidden text/links
  • Using irrelevant, popular keywords
  • Over optimizing HTML headings
  • Copying content
  • Buying links

6. Grey Hat SEO

Gray Hat SEO falls somewhere in the middle because these tips are not specifically stated in Google’s guidelines. Be cautious to take this route because it is not safe to assume that just because a specific technique has been described as misleading and labeled and that will get you in trouble will save you from degradation or punishment.

Here are some examples of gray SEO techniques:

  • Clickbait articles
  • Spun content
  • Link exchanges
  • Paid reviews

7. Negative SEO

Negative SEO is the practice of applying black or gray hat SEO techniques to someone else’s website with the intention of causing harm. Harming your competitors gives you room to advance in search results.

There are a few strategies companies will use with negative SEO:

  • Building unnatural links to a competitor’s site
  • Posting negative reviews
  • Hacking websites to modify content
