What is Azure Backup?

The Azure Backup is an Azure-based service that you can use to back up and restore your data in the Microsoft cloud. The Azure Backup is a consistent, safe, and competitively priced cloud-based backup solution that can be used to substitute on-premises or off-site backup solutions. There are numerous components in Azure Backup that can be downloaded and deployed liable on what you want to be backed up. All these components can be used to back up data to a Recovery Services dome in Azure, irrespective of whether you are protecting data on your buildings or in the cloud.

This is an online storage unit in Azure and is used to hold recovery points, backup copies, and backup policies. The Recovery service vaults can be used to hold backup data for Azure services as well as on-site servers and terminals. With the help of each Azure subscription, you can create up to 500 Recovery Service vaults.

When bearing in mind where to store your data, you can use geo-redundant storage (GRS) or locally redundant storage (LRS). The LRS copies your data three times in a storage scale unit in a datacentre. All of these copies are in the same region. The LRS will protect your data from local hardware disappointments. In contrast, the GRS copies your data to a secondary region, which is hundreds of miles away from the source data. The GRS is more posh than LRS, but it means that your data is endangered even in the event of an outage in your region.

  • Application-Consistent Backup:-

This reflects that a recovery point has all the required data to restore the backup copy, so extra fixes are not required. The use of application-consistent data means that restoration time is reduced significantly.

  • Long-Term Retention:-

There is no boundation of the length of time data can remain in a Recovery Services vault, so they can be used for both short, and long-term data preservation. However, the Azure Backup has a limit of large recovery points per protected instance.
