mkfs's Examples

Formats a device with a new filesystem (like ext4, xfs, etc.).

sudo mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb1

Creates a new Btrfs (modern copy-on-write) file system on a disk or partition.

mkfs.btrfs /dev/sdb1
