# the subject

What is Microservices?

Microservices is an architectural style in which a system is decomposed into services that are deployed and scaled independently. The properties that make it work are clear boundaries drawn around business capabilities, data owned privately by each service, communication that tolerates failure, and delivery infrastructure good enough to deploy dozens of things safely. The honest part of the subject is the cost. Distribution turns a function call into a network call with partial failure, a transaction into a saga, and a stack trace into a distributed trace. A team without solid delivery and observability practice will move more slowly, not faster.

Why it's in demand now

After a decade of enthusiasm, many organisations are consolidating services they split too early, and the valuable engineer is the one who can judge the trade-off rather than advocate a position. Employers are asking for people who can decompose a monolith incrementally, and who know when the answer is not to.

# outcomes

What you'll be able to do

Draw service boundaries around capabilities rather than around layers
Decide honestly whether a split is justified
Design communication that survives a dependency being down
Handle data consistency without distributed transactions
Trace a request across services during an incident
Extract a service from a monolith without a rewrite

# questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide a lab environment for Microservices?

No, and that is deliberate. You build the labs on your own free-tier account, and we walk through the setup and the cost guardrails in week one. A sandbox that expires when the course ends teaches you nothing you keep; your own environment does.

What if I miss a session?

Every session is recorded and available in the LMS the same day, and you keep access for a year. You can also sit the missed session again with the next cohort at no extra cost.

What do I need to know before starting Microservices?

Experience building and running a non-trivial application; Understanding of HTTP and messaging; Familiarity with containers helps. If you are unsure whether you are ready, tell us what you work on now and we will give you a straight answer rather than a sales one.

Is there a certificate, and is it worth anything?

You get an industry-recognised DevOpsSchool certificate after the three-hour open-book exam. Most people find the capstone repositories carry more weight in an interview than the certificate itself, which is why the labs are built to be shown.

Can you run Microservices as a private batch for our team?

Yes. We build the agenda from your stack after a discovery call and drop anything your team already runs in production. Teams of 8 to 30 work best; larger groups split into parallel batches.

What is your refund policy?

If we cancel or postpone a cohort and you decline the rescheduled session, you get a full refund within 15 days. We do not offer a general money-back guarantee, and taxes and gateway fees are not refunded.

Do you offer instalments or EMI?

No. The fee is charged once at enrolment. Where we show a monthly figure it is arithmetic to help you size the cost against a budget, not a payment plan.

Where is this delivered from, and in which timezone?

Sessions are taught from India in IST. The weekday cohort runs in the IST evening and the weekend cohort in the IST morning, and the batch table above converts both to your local time. Everything is recorded, so a difficult timezone is inconvenient rather than disqualifying.

Can I attend in person?

Only in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, where we have training centres, and only when six or more learners in that city book the same cohort. Everywhere else the same batch runs live online, or onsite at your office for a corporate group.
